Mibosport Cup R1 - report

Mibosport Cup R1 - report

22 oct 2018

After six months of asphalt racing during summer season it was a time to move indoors. Winter season 2018/2019 has officially started. First round of MIBOSPORT Cup found its place on the 20th of October and more than two hundred cars were registered.

Onroad track remained without changes. Maybe because it is not needed. Black ETS carpet with white colored borders is close to perfect. On the other hand, off-road section was newly highlighted with jumps and banked turn. So that the layout could hold more modifications.

Friday’s practice is a must in Hrotovice. Right setup combined with ideal racing line and placement in the fastest qualification round is the best you can do for a result. Because of this, racers make the hall being alive from 2PM already. Some of them care about the car meanwhile the rest is dedicatedly debating about new stuff introduced recently.

The race system still keeps a few free practices on Friday, following by three timed practices. Drivers are then sorted to qualification groups based on the result of timed practice.

Buggy 2WD: Michal Orlowski proved, that he belongs to world class driver’s entity and despite strong competition reached the victory. Second place went to Martin Bayer overtaking Hupo Hönigl, who was runner up in qualification. Ales Bidovsky finished his move up through the field on the fourth place and Adam Iszay finished fifth.

Buggy 4WD: Even in the second buggy class Michal Orlowski grabbed the overall victory. Runner up Martin Bayer was close enough, but small mistake cost him a chance to get in front of Michal. Kaja Novotny took the third position, which was a nice satisfaction after performance in 2WD class. Hupo Hönigl had to satisfy himself with fourth place and Ales Bidovsky finished fifth.

1/12 Pancar: It is becoming a tradition that Tomas Liptak drives the leading car of the fastest onroad class and this day was not an exception. Branislav Panak tried his best, but did not reach more than the second place in front of Martin Zvara. Boyd Chwartacki took fourth place and Radim Hruska completed the TOP5.

1/10 Pancar: This class saw flawless victory from one of the Liptak family as well. This time it was Igor, who brought the medal home. Second position came to Martin Zvara and Tono Sloboda finished third. Radovan Konopik on the fourth position was losing pace a bit and had to worry about Marek Hellbich, who was not far away.

Formula 1: Andreas Stiebler, Lukas Hoch or Herbert Weber. Those guys were the biggest favorites of the class with highest attendance. 35 cars on the grid offered a beautiful view. After close fights in finals it was Andreas Stiebler who stood on the highest stand at the end. Lukas Hoch, our Czech hope, took second position and Herbert Weber finished third. Thomas Dvorzsky, winner from last season´s races, grabbed fourth position and Werner Spannbruckner scored fifth place.

Stock LRP: Tom Krägefski was the man on the pole in front of Lukasz Mach and Oliver Havranek. This probably decided about final result, because fast Oliver had to overtake Lukasz and finally shorten the gap between him and leading Tom. And five minutes is way too short for such a thing. Tom maintained his TQ and secured overall victory in front of Oliver and Lukasz. Fourth place came to Robert Patrzek and Blazej Orlowski was fifth.

Modified: Zdeno Kunak found himself on the top of the ranking list from early practices. Since that time, he was able to secure victory in each qualification and also in first two final heats. Matej Sulc starting from third on the grid overcame Kuba Simurda and finished as a runner up. Kuba at least maintained podium as Oliver had same number of points, but worse qualification result. TOP 5 was completed by Andreas Stiebler.
